Roma suffers from a free fall, and the cracks in the walls of the club have increased with coach Jose Mourinho making headlines in the Italian capital.

Things went well with Mourinho after his return to the Italian league at the beginning of the season.

The Portuguese coach recalled his leadership of Inter Milan to win an unprecedented treble of titles during his last period in the country, after leading Roma to six victories in his first six matches in all competitions.

And Italy seemed to be the right place for Mourinho to revive his coaching career after he was sacked as coach of Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.

But soon the results began to decline, as Mourinho's team fell to seventh place in the league after winning only 5 times in the last 13 matches in the competition.

As has been the case throughout Mourinho's history, the coach began to blame others for the decline.

Referees have become the target of Mourinho's stinging criticism on many occasions this season, while players have also received their share of blame and reprimand after a humiliating 6-1 European League defeat by Norway's Bodo Glimt last October.

After the 3-0 defeat at home last Saturday against Inter Milan in a one-sided match from beginning to end, the press conference after the confrontation was stormy by the standards of the 58-year-old coach.

"Your work is much easier than ours," Mourinho said after refusing to answer a question from a reporter. "That's why we earn more money than you."

His television interviews were no less heated after he refused to take questions from experts in the studio, before making new excuses from his personal point of view just for this defeat.

The Portuguese coach referred to the list of absentees in his team, which includes Tammy Abraham and Rick Karsdorp, suspended, and captain Lorenzo Pellegrini due to injury, after the defeat.

Mourinho told the Dazone platform, "Inter is stronger than us in normal conditions, and in these circumstances it is much stronger, today the options were very limited in light of injuries and suspensions. Our attacking capabilities were practically non-existent, and we had 3 chances and we did not score."

And with the club's new owners, Mourinho will have plenty of time to consolidate the squad.

But the huge difference in level between Roma and Inter showed how difficult Mourinho's task was.

If these lackluster performances continue, Mourinho's mood will not recede, and his controversial statements will continue to attract the media.
