The All Japan Championship, which decides the best amateur sumo in Japan, was held, and Yasuki Nakamura, a third-year student at Nippon Sport Science University, won the championship and became the first "Amateur Yokotsuna".

The Sumo All Japan Championship held at the Kokugikan in Tokyo and Ryogoku is a tournament in which working people, university students, and high school students selected from all over the country participate to decide the "Amateur Yokotsuna", which will be the best amateur sumo in Japan.

This year's final was a match between Nakamura, a 3rd year student at Nippon Sport Science University, and Okawa Kanzaki, a 4th year student at Kinki University, who had won with a fierce struggle.

Nakamura brilliantly became the first amateur yokozuna by going out in front of him and winning with a "close-up" when he evaded the opponent's thrust in the presence.

Nakamura won the national student championship in his first year of college and won the title of "Student Yokotsuna", but after that, he was blown away at this tournament last year because he couldn't get a satisfactory result. I lost. I'm glad I managed to change and I was able to achieve this kind of result at the end. "

Nakamura was supposed to be the captain at the university next year, and he was looking ahead to next year, saying, "I want to have a better year than this one."
