Frida Westman has started her debut season in the World Cup in ski jumping strongly.

Last weekend in Russian Nizny Tagil, she was 18th - which was already the best position a Swedish female jumper ever got.

A result that she topped in this weekend's World Cup competitions in Lillehammer.

In the qualifying jump on Friday, she showed great form and became eighth among the world elite - and in Saturday's back jump in normal hill, she was 13th overall after being 14th and 15th in the two jumps.

In Sunday's competition on a large hill, however, she had to settle for a 26th place.

"I almost do not think it's true!

Probably because Frida has taken big steps lately and that she definitely has the potential to establish herself in the world elite.

But that she would succeed with it already during the debut season in the World Cup and during her only third competition is incomparably good ", said Andreas Arén, sports manager for ski jumping at the Swedish Ski Association, in a press release already after the qualifying jump on Friday.

Westman is after its first two competition weekends in 17th place in the total in the World Cup.
