Leaks from the journalists' vote in the Ballon d'Or 2021 Ballon d'Or award revealed that the Egyptian star, Mohamed Salah, was disappointed, as he did not find the full support of the Arab journalist community.

According to the leaked lists, the Arab voices in first place were far from Salah, and only five countries chose him out of the total participants in the vote: Yemen, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine, and Egypt.

Only Bhutan from Asia voted in the first place for Mohamed Salah from among the non-Arab journalists.

And 180 journalists around the world voted to choose the winner of the Golden Ball among 30 players nominated for the prestigious award. The journalists arranged a list of 5 players, so that the first gets 6 points, the second 4 points, the third 3 points, the fourth two points, and the fifth one point.

The prize is won by the player with the highest number of points, and in the event of two players being equal in the number of points, the golden ball goes to the player most selected in the first place.

The Argentine Lionel Messi won the "Golden Ball" award for the year 2021, and the Egyptian Mohamed Salah, the Liverpool star, came in seventh place, which surprised many due to his outstanding level with the "Reds", while Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo came in sixth place.

The five options were also emptied of Mohamed Salah's name on the voting paper for journalists representing Tunisia, Lebanon, Algeria, Syria, Somalia and Mauritania.

As for the second Arab star, who was among the 30 candidates, the Algerian Riyad Mahrez, the English star of Manchester City, who came in 20th place, only two Arab journalists voted for him, from his country and from Yemen.
