Calle Halfvarsson has not had a flying start to the World Cup season.

In today's 15 kilometers free in Lillehammer, he was 1.45 minutes behind the winner Simen Hegstad Krüger and landed in a 40th place.

- I can not keep up the pace throughout the race.

I think I get off to a pretty good start at the end, I get my back on Iversen but then I break the pole instead when there are two kilometers left so I lose quite a few seconds there, says Calle Halfvarsson to SVT Sport after the race.

- I that I am not really where I want to be and I am not my old self yet as well, so I did not have any very high hopes anyway.

But then it is clear that I want to make progress all the time and it would have been fun if you could have entered at least the top 30 here today.

"It's a bit stressful"

Halfvarsson tells SVT Sport that he has not felt like his old self since a camp last autumn and that he is trying to find his way back there.

- I have had a bit of a hard time sleeping at the end and it is clear that it certainly has to do with the fact that you are a bit stressed that you do not really get where you want to be, he says.

That it is an Olympic competition also I guess contributes to that stress?

-

Yes, of course, when you are not selected and I have to perform.

It's a little stressful, that's it.

But I try to tackle it as best I can and can move on and hope that it goes better now the coming weekends.
