In September, SVT was able to reveal that a manager at the Swedish Football Association had to leave his post after suspicions of financial irregularities linked to SvFF's equality project.

The General Heritage Fund, which had paid out around SEK 9 million for the association's investments, therefore initiated an examination of how the state funds were handled.

Check completed

Now three months have passed - and the Heritage Fund has completed its control.

"Our overall assessment is that SEK 597,526 will be repaid to the Heritage Fund in order for the final report to be approved," they write in an email to the SvFF management.

- We were made aware through the media that there could be errors and then we started a more in-depth control.

It is difficult to speculate on what we would have found if it had not been noticed, says Hans Andersson who is unit manager at the Heritage Fund department at Kammarkollegiet.

The union itself found the largest part of this incorrectly handled money when they went through the accounts from years one and two of the three-year project.

- I can state that they fixed it afterwards.

Of course, it would have been done from the beginning, says Hans Andersson.

The money was repaid to the state fund on November 29.

Want guarantees

SvFF has already paid back half a million kronor, which they believe was not used in the project.

This after having "cleaned" its final report to the Heritage Fund by correcting costs that had nothing to do with the project, which SVT has reported on previously.

Will the Swedish Football Association be able to get new money from the Heritage Fund?

- If they come in with an application in the future, we will want guarantees that it will not happen again, of course.

It must be secured before they get money again, says Hans Andersson.
