Almost half a year after his dramatic collapse during the European Championship, the Danish professional footballer Christian Eriksen started training in his home country.

As the Danish newspaper "BT" reported on Thursday, the Inter Milan midfielder has secretly started to train on the club grounds of his home club Odense BK.

A club spokesman confirmed this at the request of the German press agency.

The 109-time Danish international suddenly collapsed on the pitch on June 12th during the European Championship opening match between Denmark and Finland in Copenhagen.

Dramatic minutes followed his cardiac arrest.

Eriksen had to be resuscitated, and quick medical intervention saved his life.

How the 29-year-old's career will continue is still open.

Without Eriksen, the Danes later made it to the semi-finals.

Eriksen comes from the small Danish town of Middelfart, but moved to Odense when he was young.

From there he moved to Ajax Amsterdam at the age of 16 - and this club is now once again associated with the Dane: The Italian sports paper “Gazzetta dello Sport” brought the Dutch club into play as a possible change target for the Dane.

There he played from 2010 to 2013.

Eriksen is not allowed to play in the Italian league because of his defibrillator.

That would be possible in the Netherlands. Accordingly, clubs in England and Denmark would also be possible.

According to "BT" information, Eriksen stayed in a large house in Odense with his partner and their two children in the summer - only a few hundred meters from the club's premises.

"We are happy that he asked if he could train with us," said Odense's coach Michael Hemmingsen.

The Italian club AC Milan will have to do without defense chief Simon Kjaer for several months.

The 32-year-old Dane suffered a ligament injury in his left knee in the 3-0 away win against FC Genoa on Wednesday evening, according to media reports, and is due to have an operation on Friday.

First of all, an arthroscopy should ensure an accurate diagnosis.

The 32-year-old central defender and Rossoneri captain, who played for VfL Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga from 2010 to 2013, had to be treated after just a few minutes and replaced after five minutes.

Kjaer was brought from the field on a stretcher and clapped his hands over his face in the pain.

On Tuesday, Kjaer was honored at the Ballon d'Or gala for his appearance in the European Championship group game against Finland.

There he was the first to help his collapsed Captain Eriksen and probably saved his life.

In the election he was ranked 18th.
