Al Ain wins 12th place in the World Schools Chess Championship

Al Ain Chess and Mind Games Club won 12th place globally at the conclusion of the World Schools Chess Championship, which was held with the participation of 293 teams from 200 countries in its preliminary stages and final rounds.

The Al Ainawi team consisted of players: Hamad Nasser Al Shamsi, Hamouda bin Hamouda, Abdullah Al Neyadi, Aisha Nasser Al Shamsi, Zainab Al Maamari, Moza Nasser Al Shamsi, Al Yazia Hamad Al Kharousi, Abdullah Younis Al Khamiri, and Ahmed Younis Al Khamiri.

120 teams have qualified for the final rounds of the world championship, and the Al Ain Chess Club team succeeded to be the first Emirati team to reach the finals, and achieve 12th place globally.

On the other hand, Al-Ainawi Ahmed Younes Khamiri received the Youngest Junior Award, sponsored by the international company (chess 24), and the Secretary-General of the Asian Chess Federation, and member of the Board of Directors of Al Ain Club, Hisham Al-Taher, presented the award to the player, in the presence of the Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem Ibrahim Al-Hashemi, and Spanish Sports Minister Jose Manuel Franco.
