The Premier League game between Watford and Chelsea resumed on Wednesday evening after a half-hour interruption.

The match was temporarily halted due to a medical incident in the stands.

What exactly happened is not yet fully known.

According to English media, a supporter in the Vicarage Road stands needed immediate medical attention due to a cardiac arrest.

Due to the ensuing unrest in the stadium, referee David Coote decided to stop the game.

That happened in the fourteenth minute with a 0-0 score.

The game was stopped for half an hour.

After medical staff treated the fan in the stands and then taken them to hospital, the players were allowed to return to the field.

A Premier League match was also canceled in October due to a medical incident in the stands.

At Newcastle United-Tottenham Hotspur (2-3) a supporter of the home club had become unwell.
