The new "semi-automatic" system sends data to an offside judge in the VAR room, which in turn can provide the runner along the line with information.
- Data from the video is sent to the operating rooms and the calculated offside line and when the pass was determined, says Johannes Holzmüller, Fifa's head of football technology and innovation.
- The replay operator then has the opportunity to show it immediately to VAR where the offside referee can immediately assess and confirm the information for the referee.
If the evaluation gives a positive outcome, the system may be used in the World Cup finals next year.
The Arab Championships, which began yesterday, are played at six of the World Cup arenas.
