Bayern member Michael Ott called for prudence after the dispute at the turbulent annual general meeting and signaled willingness to talk.

“Of course that has now torn wounds, and now we have to see how we can get back together.

It can't be a permanent condition that the fronts harden so much, ”said Ott in a“ Sportschau ”interview (Sunday).

You have to "let it all sink in" now.

Ott had triggered the sharp debate with his motion at the annual general meeting on Thursday evening.

He wanted the German record champions to work towards an end of the sponsorship relationship with the airline Qatar Airways.

After all, the application had not been approved.

Bayern President Herbert Hainer has meanwhile also arranged a personal meeting with Ott.

"It cannot be that this debate has now really been hushed up and is no longer being conducted," said Ott in the "Sportschau" interview.

In his opinion, the meeting could have been a very important evening in the history of FC Bayern. “Yes, I can imagine that. Perhaps the Presidium has made the subject even bigger with its very tough refusal to accept it than it would have been if one had simply dared confidently into the debate, "said Ott. "That will of course have a long reverberation."

Ott is critical of the role of the president. "I had actually hoped that Herbert Hainer would somehow get a more objective tone," he said. "In the end, it was actually more that the cold businessman appeared a little without understanding the feelings of the fans," said Ott. In his opinion, this shows “that the club is also becoming estranged from its fans”. He hopes "that it will not stay that way forever".

Hainer announced consequences. "We are analyzing very carefully how this course of the annual general meeting could come about," he told the "kicker" (Monday). “We will learn from this, and it is certain that we will reconsider and intensify communication with our members.” He has also been in contact with three members who had not been able to speak after he had declared the meeting over recorded and discussions agreed.

The 67-year-old was confronted with boos and "Hainer out" calls from several members on Thursday evening, especially because of the dispute over the controversial issue of Qatar sponsorship.

The mood got completely out of hand when Hainer ended the meeting, although members were still on the list of speaking contributions.

Honorary President Uli Hoeneß described the meeting in the Audi Dome as “the worst event I have ever experienced at FC Bayern”.
