The entire Norwegian national team and leader before the race, Finnish Iivo Niskanen, jumped off the chilled start of the hunt with around 20 degrees below zero in Ruka.

Instead, it became a bit of a Russian championship.

Alexander Bolshunov won ahead of Sergei Ustiugov and Artem Maltsev with Ivan Yakimushkin as four and a total of five Russian skiers among the top six.

The only one who blew up the Russian dominance was the Czech Michal Novak who finished fifth.

Johansson is the best Swede

For the Swedish part, yesterday's best Swede, young Leo Johansson, once again became the best blue-yellow skier.

Leo finished 21st and finished in 13th place in the finish.

Calle Halfvarsson was 24th in the race.
