The "Mt. Fuji Marathon", which runs around the lake at the foot of Mt. Fuji, was held for the first time in two years.

The "Mt. Fuji Marathon" sponsored by Fujikawaguchiko Town, Yamanashi Prefecture, was held online last year due to the influence of the new coronavirus, and on the 28th, runners gathered for the first time in two years and the tournament was held.

This year, the number of runners was reduced to about 5,000, which is half of the average year, and the number of runners was limited to those living in Japan.

There are two types of races: a full marathon that runs around Lake Kawaguchi and Lake Saiko of Fuji Five Lakes, and a race that runs about 10 kilometers along the shores of Lake Kawaguchi.

Of these, the runners who participated in the full marathon took off their masks after the opening ceremony and started all at once with the gun.

The weather in Fujikawaguchiko Town on the 28th became clear, and the runners were running at their own pace while looking at Mt. Fuji covered with snow.

A woman in her twenties who participated from Toyama Prefecture said, "I enjoyed Mt. Fuji because of the good weather. I am happy to be able to do my best."

A man in his 60s who participated from Tokyo said, "I'm glad I was able to run the full marathon for the first time in a while. I was able to run with confidence because infection control measures were taken."
