The long exchange with Thomas Bach, the President of the IOC, was not enough to reassure many people about Peng Shuai, whose freedom of movement and speech is still not guaranteed after the rape accusations launched by the player against a former vice premier of the Chinese regime.

So much so that the boss of the WTA, Steve Simon, via a spokesperson for the body, again sent a message.

He "remains deeply concerned about Peng's freedom from any censorship or coercion and has decided not to contact her again via email until he is certain that his answers are personal and not those of its censors, ”said the spokesperson.

WTA very skeptical of Shuai's situation

“Steve Simon contacted Peng Shuai through various communication channels. He sent her two emails, but it was clear that his responses were influenced by others, ”she continued. However, she did not wish to return to information from the BBC based on the statements of a "friend" of the player and according to which she would have sent an e-mail to Steve Simon, thanking him for his concern, but asking her not to intervene in order to leave her "alone".

As we wrote, she also had a videoconference on Sunday with the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach, all under the supervision of a member of the Chinese regime.

According to the IOC, Peng Shuai explained that she was "safe and sound at her home in Beijing but that she would like her privacy to be respected" without this being able to be verified.

On Tuesday, it was Beijing who called not to "politicize" or "blunt" the Peng Shuai affair, in a rare official reaction to the accusations made by the player.
