The first national football team performed, upon its arrival in the Qatari capital, Doha, the day before yesterday, its first training, in preparation for participating in the Arab Cup, which will be held from November 30 to December 18 next, with the participation of 16 teams, distributed into four groups, and plays White is in Group B, along with Tunisia, Syria and Mauritania.

A press statement from the Football Association said that all the players participated in the first training, under the supervision of the technical staff led by the Dutchman Van Marwijk, and his assistant staff, and Al-Abyad will continue his serious preparations during the next two days, in preparation for the group stage matches.

The team begins its group stage campaign against its Syrian counterpart next Tuesday, at Ras Bouaboud Stadium. In the second match, Mauritania will meet on December 3 at the same stadium, and play its third match against Tunisia on December 6 at Al Thumama Stadium.

The team is competing to obtain one of the two qualification cards for the second group, where the tournament system determines the qualification of the first and second place owners from each group to the quarter-final stage, which is played by the knockout system, on December 10 and 11, and the semi-final matches will be held on the 15th of the same month. The championship will come to an end on December 18, with matches to determine the third and fourth places, followed by the coronation match.

Al-Abyad's technical staff had chosen 23 players to participate in this tournament, they are: Ali Khaseef, Khaled Issa, Muhammad Al Shamsi, Bandar Al Ahbabi, Muhammad Barghash, Abdulaziz Haikal, Shaheen Abdul Rahman, Muhammad Al Attas, Walid Abbas, Muhannad Salem, Mahmoud Khamis, Majed Rashid Ali Salmin, Abdullah Ramadan, Abdullah Hamad, Ismail Matar, Tahnoun Al Zaabi, Muhammad Jumaa, Khalil Al Hammadi, Cayo Canedo, Ali Saleh, Ali Mabkhout and Sebastien Tigali.

Yesterday, the team’s delegation held a meeting with the officials of the International Football Association and the organizing committee of the tournament.

During the meeting, all the technical and organizational aspects of the tournament were discussed, and the meeting touched on the detailed regulations for the tournament, in addition to the instructions issued by the International Football Association, and related to the “Covid-19” protocol.

The organizing committee of the tournament was also keen to organize arbitration workshops for the participating teams, where the players of the team attended a lecture on video technology and its cases, in addition to the latest amendments to the football law.

On the other hand, Al-Obeid players participated in the official photo session, which is being implemented by the organizing committee, with the aim of providing the players' images in a unified manner for use on the screens and media platforms of the tournament.
