Arteta lauds Arsenal's patience in the Premier League

Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta praised the patience of his players in advancing towards the top-four competition in the English Premier League after their 2-0 win over Newcastle United on Saturday.

Arsenal were disappointed in the last round after a series of ten matches ended unbeaten and collapsed 4-0 against Liverpool.

But Bukayo Saka scored a goal for Arteta's team in the 56th minute, and substitute Gabriel Martinelli added the second goal after ten minutes, and after participating in the place of the injured Saka.

Arsenal's tally of 23 points is the same as West Ham United, the fourth-placed team to face champions Manchester City on Sunday.

The only negative thing was that Saka was injured after he showed up well.

"I'm happy with the points after losing the last round," Arteta said. "It should have been a quick win. Overall, I'm satisfied."

"The secret is that we had to be patient. We had to play quickly and with a healthy rhythm. That's what we did in the second half. We found spaces and that's how we scored two goals."

And Arteta made one change to the Arsenal squad that lost to Liverpool, as Martin Odegaard participated in the place of Alexandre Lacazette.

"I have to trust them and give them confidence after difficult moments," Arteta said.

Arsenal will play Manchester United in the league on Thursday.
