Klopp considers new Manchester United coach 'bad news'

German coach Jurgen Klopp considered that the expected arrival of veteran Ralph Rangnick at the head of the technical staff of rivals Manchester United, constitutes "unpleasant news for other teams" in the English Premier League, given the great experience of his compatriot and his ability to organize teams.

And Manchester United appears close to contracting Rangnick as a temporary coach, succeeding the Norwegian article, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, after his lawyer said on Friday to the German “Sid” agency of AFP that the contract was being finalized to sign Rangnick, who is currently the director of sports and development at the Russian club Lokomotiv Moscow. .

Rangnick, 63, nicknamed the "Godfather of German Football", and the former RB Leipzig, Hoffenheim and Schalke 04 coach, is credited with influencing the high-pressure style of his compatriots Klopp and Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel.

Klopp said in the press conference on the sidelines of the match against Southampton in the league on Saturday: "Unfortunately, a good coach came to England, to Manchester United. Ralf is a coach with very, very great experience. He built two teams from scratch into a striking force in Germany with Hoffenheim and Leipzig." .

"United will be organized on the pitch, we have to realize that, obviously this is not good news for the other teams."

Michael Carrick took over the duties after the Norwegian was sacked and oversaw United's victory over Villarreal (2-0) in the fifth round of the group stage of the Champions League on Tuesday, to qualify for the 16th round at the top of their group. However, the club is looking for a coach with more experience to manage the team until the end of the season.

United said in a statement Solskjaer's dismissal that the club "looks forward to appointing a temporary coach until the end of the season" before appointing a permanent technical director during the summer, and the current Argentine coach, Mauricio Pochettino, appears to be the most prominent candidate for the position, although the Brazilian Leonardo, the French club's sporting director, appears. On Friday, he confirmed to AFP that Pochettino is staying as coach of his team and that he "never asked to leave".

According to media reports, Rangnick will receive a consulting role at United for another two years.

And he will not be ready to manage the upcoming match against Chelsea, the leaders in the league, on Sunday, because he has not yet obtained a work permit.

Rangnick took over the position of football director in Leipzig in 2012 and contributed to his leadership from the fourth division to the first, which he fought for the first time in the 2016-2017 season and came second behind Bayern.

During that period, he assumed the position of coach in the club in the 2015-2016 seasons and led it to the Elite League, and then 2018-2019.

Solskjaer was sacked after United lost 4-1 to lowly Watford last week.

United occupies eighth place in the league after losing four of its last five matches, 12 points behind leaders Chelsea and West Ham fourth, the last qualifying places for the Champions League.
