Aftonbladet was the first to report that the long-distance star will run sprints when the World Cup premieres in Ruka, Finland this weekend.

Something the women's coach Stefan Thomson also confirms for SVT Sport.

"She is part of the sprint team on Friday," writes Thomson in a text message.

In Gällivare last weekend, Frida Karlsson opted out of the sprint - even though it is a distance she wants to get better at and run more of in the future.

- In my approach, I have tried to be a little faster, a little more stable that will also make me a good sprinter.

So there is no door I want to close completely, she told SVT and told that it can give an advantage even in the distance races if she develops her sprinting.

- There are a lot of mass starts where speed is an important part of the finishes.

Frida Karlsson has previously done six sprint races in the World Cup.

Jonna Sundling, who crashed hard in Friday's sprint, is not in the squad.

Jens Burman, who was forced to break during Saturday's 15 km classic, will not go to Finland either.
