On Monday, the world's best football player will be crowned on both the women's and men's side.

But the women's player who takes home the prize will not be able to attend the gala due to ongoing national team assignments.

Magdalena Eriksson and Stina Blackstenius are the two Swedish players nominated for the award.

Eriksson is critical of the fact that the award ceremony is in the middle of the national team break.

- Incredibly unfortunate that you have not found a date that fits both calendars.

Whoever wins on the women's side will probably not be able to be there and pick up their prize and that is sad.

It's a big moment in your career that you want to celebrate in the right way.

Now I do not think I will win, but it is clear that it is cool to be part of such events, she says.

Nilla Fischer agrees with her national team mate.

- Of course it is great that they are nominated.

This indicates a very good performance.

It should not be on an international date.

It should be so that both men and women can go there and it feels sad to say so again: but it shows who they prioritize, she says.

The prize awarded to the world's best football player by FranceFootball has been awarded since 1956. Since 2018, it has also been awarded to women's players.

Magdalena Eriksson has had a good season with league victories and Champions League final with Chelsea and Olympic silver with the national team.

But do not think she will take home the prize.

- I'm uncomfortable talking about it because I do not see myself on such a list.

But it's of course great fun.

I have really had the privilege of working in two teams that have been successful.

There are many really good football players out there who can join, she says.
