The word that comes up the most at Eintracht Frankfurt in connection with Jesper Lindström is: learning process.

The 21-year-old attacking player, who is considered a top talent in his home country Denmark, still has to acquire a lot in order to be able to survive in the Bundesliga over the long term.

Lindström's willingness to learn was shown with a special sense of achievement in Eintracht's 2-0 win on Sunday in Freiburg.

When, with a bit of luck, he had the chance to shoot on goal, the nimble young man did not hesitate after 34 minutes of play and aimed to make the all-important 1-0. With joy at the Frankfurter Tor, Lindström was shaken vigorously by his colleague Kristijan Jakic. In his 13th competitive game for Eintracht, the Dane, who moved from Brondby IF to Main in the summer, scored his first goal.

“That was important, I needed that.

I had to wait so long. ”Now he was“ just happy that it worked, ”said Lindström, putting his relief into words.

Eintracht trainer Oliver Glasner thought it was "very, very cool" how Lindström managed to finish.

"Today it was one of his best performances in our dress", praised Glasner.

"I'm happy for him and for us that it was such a good performance."

On the right way

Lindström's teammates Jens Petter Hauge and Sam Lammers - the Dutchman Lammers in particular has faced severe criticism in recent weeks - sat idly on the bench in Freiburg. The Dane, on the other hand, showed with a few good actions that he is on the right track at Eintracht, for which Filip Kostic also scored 2-0 (43rd). Lindström had more pull to the opposing goal and was less stuck. He also made significant gains in terms of the will to assert himself. He concentrated on the essentials.

"Jesper moved well between the lines," said Glasner. "He understands more and more what we want from him and in which situations we want to bring him." Once again the head coach spoke of a "trial" at Lindström, who won the 2-1 away win over Olympiacos in the Europa League in stoppage time Submission to the 2: 1 had given by Hauge. Glasner is not surprised that Lindström is making progress in his development. The Austrian noted with goodwill that the Danish U-21 international “listens very well” during training. His willingness to learn has led to Glasner granting Lindström a weaker performance.

It is “a steep way up. We support the players in this, even if things don't go so well, ”Glasner explains his approach. Lindström feels the trust of his coach. It helped him deal with the sometimes great criticism from outside. Because there are voices who cannot imagine that Lindström will prevail in the Bundesliga. In addition, the support from Glasner encourages him to reduce his deficits with the necessary consistency.

Above all physically, the 1.82 meter tall Lindström has to become more robust and gain muscle mass. But the Dane, who made his starting eleven for the senior national team in the last international break in the 3-1 win against the Faroe Islands, works hard in the weight room. In the future, Lindström wants to be more difficult to separate from the ball in duels with physically strong opponents. If the attacker were to play his speed better, his opponents would have an even harder time against him.

His team-mate Kevin Trapp considers Lindström to be an "outstanding footballer with great technique".

But he is "very young" and has to "get used to" football in the Bundesliga, says the Frankfurt goalkeeper.

In the Danish “Superligaen” Lindström scored ten goals and 11 assists in 29 games for the champions from Copenhagen in the preseason.

This is one of the reasons why Lindström was worth around seven million euros in transfer fee to the Frankfurters.

At Eintracht, the great young hope got a contract until July 1, 2026. The apprentice Lindström should become a seasoned Bundesliga player as quickly as possible.

In terms of his learning process, Lindström has taken a step forward in Freiburg.
