After a brilliant week at the Grand Slam of Darts, Fallon Sherrock packed all emotions into one tweet.

"Empty, happy, tired, sad, happy, enthusiastic, disappointed, ecstatic - so many emotions and memories," wrote the 27-year-old Sherrock on Sunday night on Twitter.

Previously, the best darts woman in the world had lost her quarter-finals against the former Scottish world champion Peter Wright, despite a strong performance with 13:16.

"Wow, you played impressively," Wright praised his opponent in Wolverhampton.

About three weeks before the World Cup in London (December 15 to January 3), Sherrock has made history again.

She became the first woman ever to reach the last eight in a tournament that is televised.

One after the other she had defeated the men Mike de Decker (Belgium), Gabriel Clemens (Germany) and Mensur Suljovic (Austria).

But it wasn't enough for the strong bird of paradise Wright.

"I did my best, but that wasn't good enough for Peter today," said Sherrock.

She is again qualified for the World Cup two years after her two historic victories in December 2019.

In the first round she could meet players like the former Dutch world champion Raymond van Barneveld or the German debutant Florian Hempel at Alexandra Palace.

World champion Gerwyn Price eventually won the Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton. He thereby consolidated his status as number one in the world. The 36-year-old Welshman won the final of the major tournament on Sunday evening with 16: 8 against Wright. "The Iceman" Price built up his cushion in the world rankings and will go into the World Cup as a favorite. Wright could meet the former dominator Michael van Gerwen (Netherlands) as number two in a possible semi-final.

Before the World Cup, the Players Championship Finals in Minehead are scheduled for the coming weekend.

So far, four German professionals have qualified for the World Cup: Gabriel Clemens, Martin Schindler, Florian Hempel and Fabian Schmutzler, who is only 16 years old.

At another qualification tournament on November 29th, the former German number one Max Hopp is still hoping for a World Cup ticket at the last minute.
