The match had just lasted a few minutes when Marseille's Dimitri Payet stepped forward to hit a corner.
Then a bottle was thrown in from the stands and hit Payet on the side of the head.
The Marseille player collapsed and received medical treatment on the pitch while the rest of the players entered the locker room.
After a few minutes, Payet was able to get up and go out into the locker room with an ice pack against his head.
The match has been temporarily suspended and after just over an hour had still not started.
