The public holidays precede the public holidays.

With so many awards and prizes that are distributed in sport in the last few weeks of the year, some people have a hard arm.

But trophy weight is rarely a good indicator of the importance of achievement.

This week Khalida Popal received a rather light plate for the “Hero Award” from the football players' union (FIFPRO). Popal, 34 years old, once an Afghan national player, had organized the departure of Afghan female soccer players from Kabul and other parts of Afghanistan from Denmark in the summer. FIFPRO helped her with this, so the organization stood out on Wednesday not least on its own. Rightly so.

In September Khalida Popal said on Deutschlandfunk Kultur: “We worked day and night to get the women out.

I have the power to be the voice of voiceless women.

And I will use my power. ”On Thursday morning shortly before four, 35 young Afghan women and their families landed in London.

Khalida Popal initiated her departure, which took several months, the flight from the Taliban via Pakistan with the help of sponsors and Leeds United's promise to look after the girls.
