Yesterday, the cycling team succeeded in winning four colored medals on the first day of the track championship competitions in the first Arab combined cycling championship held in Cairo, and will continue until November 28, bringing the total number of the team’s medals to 19 colored medals, including seven gold, nine silver and three Bronzes, and the captain of the national team, Yusuf Mirza, managed to achieve the first medal for the UAE in the three-day track championship competitions.

Youssef Mirza achieved the seventh gold medal for the UAE in the championship in the 15 km scratch race, after a strong competition. Achieving the silver medal in the team pursuit race after a strong competition with the Algerian team, which was crowned with gold.

In the youth competitions, the youth team won the bronze medal in the team competition after defeating Morocco, while the Egyptian team won first place, and Algeria ranked second.

The UAE women's team won the silver medal in the team pursuit race in a strong competition with the Egyptian team, and the women's team secured a new medal, as it reached the final in the team pursuit race, and will play against Egypt to determine the gold medal winner.

For his part, technical director Abdullah Suwaidan confirmed to "Emirates Today": "The results achieved so far, with the efforts of the people of the Emirates, are certainly a great achievement due to the suspension of races for two years, and the absence of any competitions or league championships, in addition to maintaining the track in the Emirates, which means that there is no place for training, which confirms the success of the riders so far in the championship.”
