The South African Football Federation (Safa) announced on Monday, November 15, that it wanted to seize the international federation (Fifa) and the African Confederation (CAF) to contest the arbitration during its defeat in Ghana (1-0), which cost him the qualification for the World-2022.

Benin wants to do the same for an irregularity that occurred during its defeat in Kinshasa.

A contentious penalty

In the Group G small final of the World Cup qualifiers, the winner of the Ghana-South Africa match secured the qualifying ticket for the Africa Zone third round. However, the meeting turned on a penalty, awarded by Senegalese referee Maguette N'Diaye in the first half for an alleged foul by South African defender Rushine De Reuck on Daniel Amartey. On slow motion it looks like the Leicester City player has dived. Video referee assistance (VAR) was not available for this match.

"The federation has decided to file an official complaint so that FIFA and CAF closely examine the conduct of match officials," Tebogo Motlanthe, CEO of Safa, said on Twitter.

He added that he would hold a press conference later to give more details.

Ghana eliminate South Africa with an outrageous penalty.

Why am I not amazed?

One too many replacement for the DR Congo?

On the side of group J, it was the same scenario.

A top match between DR Congo and Benin where the winner took the lead in the pool and therefore the ticket for the 3rd round.

Here again, the home team won, 2-0 this time.

Here again, the score was opened on a penalty that the two sports columnists, Nabil Djellit and Patrick Juillard, considered more than contentious.

But, unlike the Ghanaians, the Congolese managed to double the lead in the second half.

2-0 for DRC.

It's folded.

A bogus penalty and a closed door not respected with a platform filled and surrounded by a fanfare.

Only in Africa ... #RDCBEN

However, it is neither the disputed penalty nor the disrespected closed session that the Beninese wish to attack before the authorities.

According to Algerian journalist Walid Zani, coach Hector Cuper would have made his changes on four different slots, against three as provided for in the regulations.

🚨 DR Congo beat Benin 2-0 to qualify to the playoffs BUT DR Congo made 4 substitutions at 4 different stoppages in the 2nd half.

Benin have submitted a protest and DR Congo could very well be disqualified (teams are allowed to make up to 5 changes but only during 3 stoppages).

An error which could lead to the disqualification of the Leopards, if one relies on the precedent in the German Cup, where, for the same error, Wolfsburg had lost their match on the green carpet.
