Peder Fredricson is nominated for male athlete of the year and the national jumping team is nominated for both team of the year and performance of the year, in addition, national team captain Henrik Ankarcrona is nominated for leader of the year.

Behind the nominations are the great successes that the equestrian sport and the national jumping team had in 2021. At the Olympics in Tokyo, the team took gold and Peder Fredricson took silver individually.

Fredricson also won the Global Champions Tour and rose to number one in the world rankings during the autumn.

- It's great fun.

We have had a fantastic year and it is great to have been a part of this, says Peder Fredricson to SVT Sport.

The highlight came this summer, according to Fredricson himself.

- I would say that the Olympics were the highlight.

It was fantastic to win team gold together with my teammates.

It was very big, says Peder Fredricson.

Fredricson emphasizes that the classic Swedish team model also holds equestrian sports.

- We are a good bunch with a strong team cohesion and good leadership.

We have also had horses of the right age and good shape, he says.

"No bad company"

In the category of male athlete of the year, Fredricson is nominated together with the Olympic gold medalists in athletics Armand Duplantis and Daniel Ståhl and the world record holder in skating, Nils van der Poel.

- It was not bad company.

Then you get to feel honored.

I think it is very big to be that, and I am very happy about it, says Peder Fredricson.

Fredricson has previously also been successful at the Sports Gala, and among other things has been awarded Radiosporten's Jerring Prize on two occasions.

The Sports Gala 2022 takes place on 17 January.

What would be the biggest hit to win this time?

- It's always fun to win things together, so this year's team would be fantastic, says Peder Fredricson.
