His victory against the British government caused a stir last year at the start of the Covid pandemic.

Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford received the Medal of Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) from Prince William on Tuesday in a ceremony at Windsor Castle.

The England international has vowed to continue his campaign to help underprivileged children.

"I try to give children what I didn't have when I was little," said Rashford, who in June 2020 succeeded in extending the distribution of free meals to underprivileged children, that Boris Johnson's government wanted to stop after the first confinement.

Queen Elizabeth II then awarded him this medal which rewards commitment to the service of the country.

"What child does not deserve?

"

“I'm just giving them an opportunity and I think they deserve it.

What child does not deserve?

For me it's a punishment that they can't afford meals or books, ”Rashford also said.

“These are small changes but they can have a big impact.

I see the generation that comes after me as a very special generation.

"

“They just need someone to show them the right direction and that's what I'm doing,” he added.

Marcus Rashford has indicated that he will present his medal to his mother, Melanie, who raised him with his four siblings.
