Last season was a great success for Montreal and Carey Price when the team reached the Stanley Cup final where they lost to Tampa Bay.

But in the prelude to the start of the season, Price has not been included.

On October 7, the players 'union NHLPA announced that the 34-year-old would undergo the NHL's and the players' union's help program for players.

The program is offered to all players in the NHL and aims to help players and their families with problems such as mental illness and substance abuse.

In a post on Instagram, Carey Price talks about how he has neglected his mental health in recent years.

"In recent years, I have allowed myself to come to a dark place and I did not have the tools to cope with that struggle," he writes.

He further says that last month he checked into a treatment clinic for his addiction.

“I came to a situation where I understood that I had to prioritize my health for both myself and my family.

Asking for help when you need it is what we tell our children to do, and that was what I needed to do, ”he writes.

He continues:

“I have neglected my mental health for several years which will take time to repair;

all I can do is take it day by day. ”

He also writes that it is uncertain when he will return to the ice.
