They were waiting for Unai Emery, they will have Eddie Howe.

Newcastle, the new super hyper mega rich of European football, has finally announced the name of the first coach who will be in charge of leading the club to the heights of the Premier League and Europe after the takeover by a Saudi fund not bothered by his bank account.

"Newcastle United are very happy to confirm the appointment of Eddie Howe as a new coach, under contract until summer 2024," said the club from the north-east of England.

The 43-year-old coach succeeds Steve Bruce, who left the Magpies on October 20 "by mutual consent".

"It is a great honor to become the head coach of a club of Newcastle's stature, which has such a history," said Howe.

It's a wonderful opportunity, but there is a lot of work ahead and I can't wait to start with the players.

A manager recognized and appreciated in England

Former Bournemouth center-back, Howe then took the reins of the Cherries as interim coach in 2008, when the club were still only in League Two (4th division).

Bournemouth then rose through the ranks to the elite of English football in 2015, under the command of Eddie Howe who then gained a good reputation, his team playing an attacking and collective game.

Despite one of the smaller budgets, the southern England club have maintained five seasons in the Premier League, and their coach has been voted manager of the month three times (March 2017, January 2018 and October 2018).

Newcastle, his new club, have still not won a Premier League game (5 draws, 6 losses) and will host Brentford, direct contender for the maintenance, on the next day on November 20.
