For the start of the 15th edition of the Transat Jacques Vabre, 158 skippers out of 79 boats will start the legendary race in Le Havre on Sunday at 13:27.

An edition with a record number of participants which marks the return of the Ultimes, these giants of the sea 35 meters high, capable of going up to 90 km / h.

Nine months after the finish of the Vendée Globe, the sailors are back at sea. The start of the Transat Jacques Vabre is scheduled for today at 13:27, a duo race, non-stop, without assistance with a record number of participants.

In total: 79 boats and 158 skippers on the starting line, unprecedented.

Among the ships present, the return of the Ultimes, these immense trimarans that one could call the giants of the seas, 35 meters high, capable of going up to 80-90 km / h.

Charlie Dalin, the favorite

Among the other categories of boats: the Class40, the Ocean Fifty, and the Imoca, which can also be found in the Vendée Globe with a favorite, Charlie Dalin.

The native of Le Havre and winner of the last edition came second in Les Sables d'Olonne.

This Sunday, the boats leave the Vatine basin where they are moored.

Before the big departure, place the sailors' goodbyes to their family and friends.

One thing is certain: there will be people for this first post-Covid sailing meeting.

Arrival in two and a half weeks

For the 15th edition, the sailors will link Le Havre to Fort de France in Martinique, for the fastest around November 24, in two and a half weeks.
