World number 1 Novak Djokovic won the Masters 1000 in Paris for the sixth time on Sunday beating 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 defending champion Daniil Medvedev (2nd) who deprived him of the Grand Slam in September at the US Open.

The Serb thus won a record 37th Masters 1000 title, the category just below the Grand Slam tournaments, one better than Rafael Nadal.

Djokovic had made sure the day before to finish the season at the top of the world hierarchy for the 7th time, also a record which he now holds alone with a head start on Pete Sampras.
