Milan continued its unbeaten start to the Italian football season, with a 1-1 draw with rivals Inter Milan in an exciting "derby of fury" on Sunday, to maintain its 7-point lead over the defending champions.

Hakan Calhanoglu, who moved from Milan to Inter on a free deal this summer, made an immediate imprint against his former club by receiving a penalty and scoring in the 11th minute.

But Inter defender Stephane de Vriy headed the ball into his team's goal, and Milan equalized the score six minutes later, before Milan goalkeeper Ciprien Tataroshanu superbly saved a penalty kick by Lautaro Martinez in the physically strong first half.

AC Milan's substitute Alexis Salmikers was a few centimeters away from scoring a superb goal in the 90th minute, but his powerful shot hit the post.

Milan remained in second place with 32 points, with a goal difference behind Napoli, while the defending champion Inter is third and has 25 points.
