The biggest boxing star on the planet became the first to defeat the American Caleb Plant (21-1) when he stopped his opponent via knockout 1.05 into the eleventh round at a big gala in Las Vegas.

As a result, "Canelo" became the first ever in super middleweight to win all four World Cup titles - and only the sixth men's boxer of all time to win all four World Cup titles in one and the same weight class.

- I'm proud to be one of the six.

This means so much to me, and to Mexican boxing, to be an undisputed champion, he says.

Won by knockout in the eleventh round

Alvarez once again demonstrated why he is considered number one, and broke down his opponent with heavy body blows.

He had promised in advance to punish the American for his cocky comments before the match.

In the eleventh round, he floored Plant with a left hook and after the opponent quickly got up, Alvarez went to a new attack.

Plant was pressed against the ropes and floored a second time, and then the referee broke the match.

- It was a fantastic match and all respect to Caleb Plant.

He was a cunning opponent with a lot of ability.

I respect him as a fighter, and he wanted to continue the match.

Just a loss in 60 games

All three judges had "Canelo" in the lead at the time of the knockout (96-94, 98-92, 97-93).

"Canelo" now improves its fantastic match result to 57 wins (39 KO), two draws and only one loss.

The only blunder in the minutes came eight years ago against the undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. who is ranked as one of history's foremost boxers.

Since then, Alvarez has won 16 straight games.

After playing four matches in eleven months, Alvarez said afterwards that he needs to rest and that his next match will be in May 2022.
