One of the three major Ekiden of the university, All Japan University Ekiden, was held, and Komazawa University overtook Aoyama Gakuin University in the final 8 wards and won the 14th victory for the second consecutive year.

The All Japan University Ekiden is called the "Three Major Ekiden of the University" together with the "Hakone Ekiden" and the "Izumo All Japan University Selected Ekiden", and 27 teams including two open-participating academic teams participated.



The race was contested for 106.8 km in 8 sections from Atsuta Jingu in Nagoya City to Ise Jingu in Ise City, Mie Prefecture, and the ranking changed rapidly in the first half.



Tokyo International University, which won the "Izumo All Japan University Selection Ekiden" last month, took the lead in the 6th ward, but in the following 7th ward, Komazawa University's ace, Ren Tazawa, who received a stake in 4th place, made a strong run. He took the lead by reversing the difference of 1 minute and 36 seconds.



The final 8 wards have the longest distance of 19.7 km, and Takayuki Iida of Aoyama Gakuin University caught up with Komazawa University in a fierce competition around 8 km, but Kyosuke Hanao of Komazawa University spurted around the remaining 2 km. He pushed it out and won the championship for the second time in 5 hours 12 minutes 58 seconds.



Komazawa University is the 14th victory, which is the highest number in history.



Aoyama Gakuin University, which aimed for the first time in three years, came in second with an 8 second difference of 5 hours 13 minutes 6 seconds, followed by Juntendo University in 3rd place, Kokugakuin University in 4th place, and Tokyo International University in 5th place.
