His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and Head of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office, attended the official opening ceremony of the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship, which is currently being held at the Jiu-Jitsu Arena in Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi, and will continue until November 11.

The stars of the national team began their World Cup campaign today, Sunday, in the twenty-sixth edition of the tournament, by winning 14 colored medals, including 4 gold, which enhances the chances of qualifying for the 2022 World Games in the United States of America.

The competitions were attended by Abdel Moneim Al Hashemi, President of the UAE and Asian Federations, First Vice President of the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation, Panayiotos Theodorpolis, President of the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation, Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice-President of the Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation, and Youssef Al-Batran, a member of the Federation’s Board of Directors. Emirates Jiu-Jitsu, Aref Al Awani, Secretary General of Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Fahad Al Kiyumi, Undersecretary of the Department of Governmental Support, Dr. Mohammed Al Falahi, Secretary General of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, Ahmed Al Masoud, Vice President of Al Masaood Group, Sultan Al Neyadi, Emirati astronaut, Fahad Al Shamsi, Secretary General of the UAE and Asian Federations, and Joachim Thumbart, Director General of the International Federation .

The national team began its journey in the World Championships with the men's competitions in the Nywaza U-16 category of weight categories (38, 42, 46, 50, 55, 60, 66, 73, over 73 kg), and women's competitions under 16 years of weight categories (32, 36,40, 44, 48, 52, 57, 63 kg).

The national team succeeded in gifting the UAE 14 colored medals, as Sultan Al Hosani, Majid Al Balushi and Abdul Rahman Mohammed were able to achieve the gold medal in the men’s categories weighing 55 kg, 38 kg and under 46 kg, respectively, to be the fourth gold from Mira Al-Saadi’s balance in the women’s category weighing 36 kg While Jassim Al Hosani, Abdul Rahman Al Najjar and Hamad Issa Al Balushi won the silver medal for men weighing under 73 kilograms and above 73 kilograms, respectively, while Amna Al Hosani, Mira Al Hosani and Maryam Al Ali won the women’s silver medals with a weight of 36 kilograms, 40 kilograms and 44 kilograms, respectively.
