Sarah Sjöström had control from start to finish in the semifinals of the 100 meter freestyle.

She swam in the time of 52.21 and it was one hundredth better than the second semifinal winner Marrit Steenbergen, Netherlands.

Lars Frölander was impressed by Sjöström's performance.

- The feeling was that she slowed down at 65-70 meters already.

It can go a second faster tomorrow, he says.

Sjöström holds the European record for the distance and it is 50.58 seconds.

21-year-old Sara Junevik set a personal record in the distance when she finished seventh in her semifinal in the time of 53.90, but that was not enough for the final.

Her previous personal best was 54.00.
