The initial two periods were the home team Chicago that was constantly one step ahead.

With just over nine minutes left in the second, the score was 3-1 to Chicago when rookie Seth Jarvis scored the first NHL goal of his career, in his only second NHL game.

- It was a fantastic feeling.

Especially against (goalkeeper) Marc-Andre Fleury.

I've watched him grow up and he's a "Hall of Fame" goalkeeper.

So it's special to get first against him, says Jarvis.

Then the third period began with an equalizer by Jesper Fast in the first minute of the game before Martin Necas poked in the winning goal a few minutes later.

Fast's goal was his fourth this NHL season.

- We were not top the first two periods.

It did not feel like we were playing our game as we should.

But on the whole, a good win but not two good first periods for us, says Carolina's head coach Rod Brind'Amour.

Carolina has now started the season with nine straight victories.
