One and a half hours after Sarah Sjöstöm swam home a European Championship gold in the 50 meter freestyle - her first gold since the elbow fracture in February - it was time to jump into the pool again.

The 28-year-old, who was the fastest in the trials, swam 57.92 - clearly the best even in the semifinals.

- It feels like there is more capacity in Sarah, I think she will push that time further in a final.

Then she will be hard to beat, says SVT Sport expert Lars Frölander.

17-year-old Emelie Fast was also in the starting field.

She finished sixth in her semifinal, in the time 1.00,16.

- It felt good, I put the details I put this morning.

Unfortunately a little slower, but I am still happy, says Fast to SVT Sport.
