Florida's 3-2 victory over Detroit is the team's eighth straight game since the start of the season.

The team was led by assistant coach Andrew Brunette.

- It was an emotional evening.

I'm proud of how the guys fought back and won after some tough days, Brunette said afterwards.

Aleksander Barkov scored both the 2-0 goal and put the decisive 3-2 in overtime.

At the same time, compatriot Sergei Bobrovsky saved 28 of 30 shots.

The NHL record for the best start to the season is ten straight wins.

In 1993, Toronto did so and Buffalo repeated the feat in 2006.

Lehner hero in penalty drama

The Vegas Golden Knights won last night against Anaheim after a drama where it took penalties to decide the match.

- What a match, it was like five matches in one, says Vega coach Peter DeBoer.

Vegas started strong and led over Anaheim 4-1 with half of the third period left to play.

But then something happened and in a little more than five minutes Anaheim manages to catch up.

Among other things through goals by Isac Lundeström after assists from Jakob Silfverberg and Hampus Lindholm.

Goalless extra time and penalties followed.

There Robin Lehner stepped forward.

- We really needed these two points and this builds self-confidence, says Vegas goalkeeper Robin Lehner.

The Swede made 34 saves, of which three penalties.

Vegas William Karlsson is listed for an assist.

New York Rangers Piteå native Nils Lundkvist took the first NHL point of his career during the night with an assist to Ryan Strome's 1-0 goal in the first period against Columbus.

1-0 became 4-0 before the final signal sounded.

It was the first time this season that Igor Sjestiorkin kept a clean sheet in the Rangers goal.
