Brighton obstructed Liverpool's progress in the English Premier League, and grabbed a precious 2-2 draw with it today, Saturday, in the tenth stage of the competition, which also witnessed Chelsea's victory over Newcastle by three goals, and Manchester City's loss against its guest Crystal Palace with two clean goals.

At "Anfield", Liverpool failed to pass an important test against Brighton, and fell into a 2-2 draw to raise its score to 22 points, compared to 16 points for Brighton.

Liverpool advanced with two goals scored by Jordan Henderson (4) and Senegalese Sadio Mane (24), but Brighton came back from afar and snatched the equalizer with two goals scored by Zambian Enoch Mwepo (41) and Belgian Leandro Trossard (65), to be the fourth tie for Liverpool against 6 victories in the competition this season.

And at the "Al Ittihad" stadium in Manchester, Crystal Palace deprived Spanish coach Josep Guardiola of celebrating his 200th match at the helm of the technical leadership of Manchester City and beat the host with two goals without a response.

The defeat constituted a new shock to Manchester City, after the team bid farewell to the English League Cup last Wednesday by defeating West Ham on penalties.
