A “golden plan” for the future: The German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB), together with the cities and municipalities as well as the non-profit association IAKS, calls on the coming federal government to improve the sports facilities.

A long-term economic stimulus package had to cover “both the refurbishment, modernization and new construction of sports facilities”, according to a joint statement.

The demand was decided by the DOSB, the German Association of Cities (DST), the German Association of Cities and Municipalities (DStGB) and the international organization of sports and leisure facilities IAKS on the occasion of the first sports venue day, a conference with representatives of the associations and support from science.

“The positive effects of doing sports can only be achieved if the sports facilities are in a refurbished, modern, sustainable condition and are geared towards people's needs,” the statement said: “A large part of the German sports facilities do not meet these requirements . "

The so-called "Golden Plan" was the basis for the nationwide construction of sports facilities in the 1960s and 1970s.

The sports venue day followed.

“We need another“ Golden Plan Sports Facilities ”from the federal government,” demanded the organizers: “Classic sports facilities must be promoted just as much as a general infrastructure for movement space for everyone.”
