This weekend, Barcelona lost 2-1 to arch-rival Real Madrid.

Tonight it was a new loss, against a much smaller Madrid club.

Rayo Vallecano took the lead 30 minutes into the game, making the score 0 - 1 after some elegant movement down the middle.

Goal scorer?

Radamel Falcao.

Busquets dropped the ball at midfield and Falcao countered.

The 35-year-old turned away Gerard Piqué before he coolly placed the lead goal at the far post.

Barcelona chased an equalizer and in the 72nd minute they had a great opportunity to do just that.

Memphis Depay was sentenced in the penalty area and the referee awarded a penalty.

The Dutchman stepped forward himself but the goalkeeper jumped in the right direction and saved.

Rayo persevered and completed the landslide victory.

The loss is Barcelona's third in the league game and the Catalans are currently in ninth place in the table.

- It's worrying.

We do not play catastrophically but there are many small things that trap us, says Barcelona captain Sergio Busquets.

Rayo Vallecano are newcomers ahead of the season and have had an impressive start.

The victory means that you climb to a fifth place in a limping table.
