The away win was not entirely expected, where Detroit came strengthened by two straight victories, Calgary had started the season without a full scorer.

But statistics are one thing, reality another - especially when players lose concentration.

Halfway into the first period, Lindholm had to slide forward in front of the Detroit goal when five red-clad players looked at the puck, and when the pass came, Lindholm could easily make 1-0 between the legs of goalkeeper Alex Nedeljkovic.

The Swedish center has thus started the season with goals in three straight games.

33 rescues

Four minutes after his goal, he could see Andrew Mangiapane extend the lead to 2-0 from the booth.

The final goal of the match came in the final minutes, when Detroit picked out Nedeljkovic from his cage.

Then Jacob Markström on the other side of the ice had kept tight, and when the final signal went he had made 33 saves.

- It was an important match for us, and for me too.

I was not happy last time (2-3 against Anaheim) and knew I needed to play, so it was important for me to get the game started, he says at the press conference after the match.

- And tomorrow is a new day and then I want to be even better.

"Got lots of help"

Coach Darryl Sutter only had a lot to say about his Swedish cage keeper.

- Jacob's saves helped us slow down.

Detroit plays with speed and energy and uses it to its advantage and that weapon Jacob helped us stop, says Sutter.

Markström himself praises his slopes, which made sure to prevent the worst dangers.

When the home team tried to come up with a final offensive in the third period, they only managed a single shot in 13 minutes.

- I got lots of help.

They got rid of the returns and made my job a little easier, says Markström about his teammates.
