The European Handball Federation has now confirmed which host countries have submitted a bid for the European Championships for women and men between 2026 and 2028. Sweden plans to host the Men's European Championships 2026, together with Denmark and Norway, and the European Women's Championships 2028. No other handball federations have submitted a bid the two championships.

- You have to wait until the congress, but it should only be formal.

This arouses an enormously greater interest from partners and the media than what everyday handball does, says the Swedish handball national team's CEO Stefan Lövgren

For the men's European Championship 2026, two group games will take place, with the Swedish men's national team in one, and the intermediate round will be played in Sweden - more specifically Kristianstad Arena and Malmö Arena.

The playoffs will be decided in Denmark.

"Sharing brotherly"

And for the European Women's Championship 2028, the Swedish group play arenas will be replaced by Helsingborg Arena and Scandinavium.

And the final weekend is played in Norway.

- This time we get a little less in the tournaments, but we share brotherly and sisterly, says Lövgren.

A final decision on host nations for the European Championships 2026 and 2028 will be made at the European Handball Federation's congress in Vienna on 20 November.

In addition to the fact that Sweden will most likely be the shared host for the European Championships 2026 and the European Championships 2028, both the men's and women's WC 2023 will be arranged here.

The men's together with Poland, and the women's with Norway and Denmark.
