Everything is still possible for FC Barcelona in the Champions League, concluded coach Ronald Koeman on Wednesday evening after the meager 1-0 win over Dynamo Kiev.

The first victory in the million-dollar ball also gives the Catalans confidence for Sunday's El Clásico.

"Thanks to this victory we are still alive," Koeman stated at the Camp Nou.

"Fortunately, anything is still possible."

'Barça' defeated the Ukrainians thanks to a goal by defender Gerard Pique shortly before half-time.

It was one of the few highlights in a mediocre game.

Still, Koeman thought that the score should have been higher.

"We could have finished the game earlier, but we didn't succeed," said the coach.

"I am happy with the game in the first half, but we should have been more effective and scored three or four goals. After the break, the game became less."

Koeman's team started the Champions League with big defeats against Bayern Munich and Benfica.

It led to speculation about the trainer's resignation, but chairman Joan Laporta expressed confidence in Koeman.

Koeman: 'Squad is ready to beat Real'

There is not much time for Koeman to enjoy the first CL victory of the season, because the Clásico against Real Madrid is already on the program on Sunday.

"It is always more pleasant to work towards such a big game with a win," said Koeman, who is only seventh in La Liga with his team.

"We will talk in the coming days about what can be improved. Mainly taking the opportunities and taking more responsibility in the game. That shouldn't be difficult things to improve."

"Can we beat Real Madrid? Why not?" Koeman replied.

"The team is ready."

The Clásico at Camp Nou starts on Sunday at 4.15 pm.
