Zidane: This player deserves to win the Ballon d'Or

Frenchman Zinedine Zidane, former coach of Real Madrid, believes that his compatriot Karim Benzema, the striker of the royal team and the France national team, deserves to win the Ballon d'Or for the best player of the year.

Zidane, 49, told the French channel Telefoot: "We are talking about a player who deserves to win this Ballon d'Or. Benzema is an incredible player, and I enjoyed a great honor because I trained him."

Zidane, the last French player to win the Ballon d'Or in 1998, added: "Benzema can do everything on the field. He is at the top, and I hope he gets the Ballon d'Or this year."

Karim Benzema entered the list of 30 players nominated for the Ballon d'Or award presented by France Football this year.

It is noteworthy that Karim Benzema, aged 33, achieved his best start during the current season since the beginning of his career, as he managed to score 9 goals and assisted 7 others during the first 8 rounds he played in the Spanish Football League.
