New details emerged that shed a great light on the reason behind the failure of the Egyptian star and Liverpool’s top scorer, Mohamed Salah, during his first professional experience in the English Premier League, when he moved in January 2014 to London’s Chelsea, coming from Basel, the Swiss, and was “The Blues.” At the time, it was led by the famous Portuguese coach, Jose Mourinho, the current coach of Roma.

And the British newspaper, "Mirror", stated that the question has always been repeated on the tongues of many Chelsea fans, regarding wasting a global talent such as Salah, as well as another prominent international star such as Belgian De Bruyne, the star of Man City, and why they did not achieve success in Chelsea.

Salah struggled to prove himself with Chelsea, before he moved on loan to Fiorentina in 2015, after which he officially moved with a final contract to Rome in 2016, where his star shined and attracted attention to him.

It turned out that the reason was personal, not technical, and it was related to Jose Mourinho towards Salah after a clash between the two sides that made the Portuguese coach take a position on the Egyptian star, as Salah did not lack the skill to impose himself in Chelsea.

Proof of this is that after brilliance with Roma, Liverpool pressed hard to sign him in 2017, after which Salah made historical records, and also contributed to Liverpool achieving two very important titles, the Champions League in 2019, and then achieving the English Premier League title for the first time since 30 years.

The reason was revealed by Eddie Newton, technical director at the time at Chelsea, and one of the important members of the coaching staff led by Jose Mourinho.

And the newspaper "Mirror", quoting Newton, said that everyone at the time in Chelsea was happy with Salah's talent, and they admired him very much.

He said: The issue of Salah and De Bruyne had nothing to do with talent, it was a personal matter from Mourinho towards the players, especially with Salah.

He said that Mourinho was not convinced by Salah for a personal reason in dealing with him on a daily basis, and directing him, whether through advice or training, and it had nothing to do with the effectiveness of Salah in the matches.

He pointed out that Mourinho was taken personally, Salah's lack of interaction with him in training, and that Mourinho is one of the type of coaches who take a position on players, and are often taken out of his choices for personal reasons, not necessarily technical.
