Alexandra Sasnovich has in two days accounted for two unexpected wins in the WTA tournament in Indian Wells.

First, she knocked out fresh US Open winner Emma Raducanu in two straight sets, and now the 100-ranked right-handed Belarusian won against Simona Halep 7-5, 6-4.

But Sasnovich had not counted on victory against the Romanian who was ranked number one in the world and won two grand slam tournaments.

- I was really nervous in the end because I so wanted to win.

I had already ordered my ticket home, because you never know.

It was maybe 70-30 in her favor.

But on the track I enjoyed and won.

Wow, says Alexandra Sasnovich in the victory interview.

Meets countryman

Previously, she did not book flights until the third round of the tournament, but she does now.

And she will continue to do so - because it was so successful.

In the quarterfinals of the WTA tournament, Sasnovich will face compatriot Viktoria Azarenka, 32nd in the world and former world number one.
