Lina .. a "ferocious beast" in an all-men Jordanian team

Jordanian Lina Fayyad, 31, punches a young man and then retreats to repeat it while training in preparation for her next match in the Emirates Warriors Championship, as Lina is a fighter in mixed arts.

Being the only professional woman in this sport in Jordan, Lina is a member of an all-male Jordanian team, training with them and competing with them in regional and international tournaments, given that she has no local counterparts.

Known as a ferocious beast, Lina started practicing the combat sport in 2012 with the encouragement of her father and family.

About that, Lina told Reuters TV, "My name is Lina Fayyad and I play mixed arts. My parents, frankly, were a boxer. Omar was young, and he always motivates me about combat sports. When he saw me, I was training and I started taking championships, and I love this thing. It motivates me a lot, I mean, he and my family are very safe. Every human being has a certain passion and he must work on it in order to be happy in his life. I am my happiness.”

While Lina enjoys the support and support of her male colleagues in the team, as well as the support of her family, her professionalism in this sport has not been without many challenges due to the stereotypical image of women in Jordanian society.

Lina explains that, "There is no girl in Jordan who plays this sport. I was the first thing, but I practiced with young men. In the first, it was very strange, but they helped me a lot. They stood with me, and in the end, this is a sport that was the first thing that was the first difficulty. The difficulties of society, for example, I heard certain criticisms that How does it mean that you are a girl who plays like this, you are a tomboy."

With regard to the nicknames she is described as besides the ferocious beast, Lina Fayyad says, "There are many nicknames, but I know what you are talking about. You are talking about Absi (a famous cartoon character in Jordan). It was very short, and it was red, so she always raised the drapery up, and it looked like my abs because of that."

Lina won the Arab World Championship in kickboxing twice, and also won her fight in the Emirates Warriors Championship in Abu Dhabi in June, and is scheduled to compete again in October.
