The Swedish handball ladies got the best possible start to the qualifiers for the European Championships 2022 when they beat Iceland 30-17 on Thursday.

Tonight, the qualifier continues with a match against Turkey.

- I would say that Turkey is really a team we should beat, says goalkeeper Johanna Bundsen to SVT Sport.

Midfielder Linn Blohm agrees.

- A team we will definitely beat even on a bad day.

But it is a qualifier and they want a lot, so it is important that we do well, says Blohm.

Axnér: "Plays trickier than Iceland"

Turkey started the qualifier with a loss against Serbia with 27-36.

Federation captain Tomas Axnér believes that Iceland is slightly better than Turkey, but that Turkey is more difficult to read.

- Turkey plays a different type of handball.

Iceland plays more Scandinavian and therefore Turkey is more difficult to learn.

They have some players who have qualities but that we rarely meet.

I think Iceland is a little better but that Turkey is a little trickier, says Axnér.

Jamina Roberts believes in Swedish victory tonight.

- I do not keep a close eye on them but they have not qualified for the latest championships and that usually says a lot.

If we do what we are supposed to, there should be no problems, she says.
